Mixed Loads: Apples generate ethylene and so should not be shipped with ethylene-sensitive commodities such as kiwifruit, persimmon, carrots, celery, cabbage, lettuce, and some flowers and nursery plants. Apples may absorb from onions, garlic, and potatoes.
Cautions: Mutsu apples will develop alcoholic off-flavors if kept in O2 less than 1.5%. They will develop injury if kept at CO2 greater than 5% and O2 less than 2.5%.
